Please reach out to ginnie@getreadytoswim.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Each child will work 1-1 with a coach. While there might be another child in the pool with another coach, we each work with each child independently.
Both Coach Ginnie and Coach Rette try to work with each child, however if the child responds better to one of us, we will try to work with that child more.
It is our goal to leave families and children in a position to progress in the pool without further lessons. Day 6 and 7, Coach Ginnie and Rette will teach the parents the skills that are needed to continue development of the kids in the pool.
Ideally no. We encourage parents to be in the water with their children and allow them to play and use the skills that were taught. Floaties create a vertical body position which is incompatible with swimming.
However, there might be times where for the safety of the child, they have a flotation device on. If the child spends ample amounts of time in the water with their flotation device on, we encourage parents to then spend a little more time using some of the tools taught to get them back into the horizontal position.
Children should always have a US Coast-Guard-Approved flotation device on them while on boats, docks, or around any large body of water.
We expect there to be tears the first couple of days. Not only is there a learning curve, but trust is also being built between the children and the coaches. Coach Ginnie and Rette are gentle and reassuring during this period. It might be hard to watch as a parent, but trust the process and the coaches. You will be thrilled by the end of the week.
We encourage parents to stick around and watch. Feel free to take video and pictures. The kids, even while crying, love to watch themselves and are so proud to see what they accomplish in swim lessons! It is preferred if you refrain from talking to them during the 10-minute lesson so they can focus on their lesson.
We swim rain or shine. In the event of lightning we will exit the pool and wait for it to pass and continue where we left off.
